ACTeen, established in 1978, is the nation’s first film acting academy for teens (ages 13-15, 16-20), recommended by talent agencies and various publications (How to Be A Working Actor by Mari Lynn Henry, former head of daytime casting for ABC-TV). Hundreds of ACTeen graduates have achieved successful careers in films, TV series (One Tree Hill, That 70’s Show, The Sopranos, etc.) and on Broadway (Les Miserables). ACTeen offers four distinct full- or part-time summer academies for dedicated pre-professionals and develops them into technically proficient, versatile and marketable actors. ACTeen combines theatrical discipline with spontaneous, effective on-camera acting techniques, so students learn to successfully navigate both film and theater media with skill and professionalism. The staff is exemplary; adults from professional acting, directing and casting backgrounds. Full-time ACTeen students work with six to eight experienced instructors and special guest artists. The small class size (6-12 maximum) ensures a close personal relationship between students and faculty. Over 15 electives are offered including Film Acting, Auditioning, Improv, Movement, Musical Theater, Writing, Shakespeare, Speech, Voiceovers, Monologues, Directing, and industry showcases. ACTeen, located near Rockefeller Center and convenient to all major transportation hubs, utilizes seven multi-camera air-conditioned studios. Summer students come to ACTeen from across the United States and overseas.
