Holmes Presbyterian Camp and Conference Center welcomes children, from 1st graders to high school graduates, to enjoy a summer of environmental exploration, swimming, hiking, engaging Bible study, campfires and cookouts. Located approximately 55 miles north of New York City, this 550-acre camp and conference center is set among pristine forests, lakes, cliffs, trails and wetlands in the hill country of northern Putnam County/southern Dutchess County in the lower Hudson River Valley. Campers are placed in cabins/tents with six other campers of similar ages and a counselor, making up a seven-member “family group.” These family groups decide together what activities to participate in each week and gather daily for a morning Bible study, evening activity and evening Vespers, allowing campers to form a close community and lasting friendships. Campers have plenty of time for boating, singing, arts and crafts, and games, as well as s’mores at night around the campfire. Holmes Camp is certified as an Accredited Camp by the American Camp Association. Holmes Camp’s executive director, Rev. Peter Surgenor, has more than 30 years of experience as a professional camp director, and he has been certified by the American Camp Association as a Certified Camp Director (CCD).
