Children at the Whale Camp exercise their sea
legs by voyaging out to sea to explore the marine
world and they spend ample time on land, experiencing
the sports and social interaction that traditional
camps offer. Aboard a magnificent 50-foot schooner,
campers come face-to-face with whales, dolphins,
porpoises, seals and puffins. While campers develop
a deep comprehension of marine science and whale
research, they dually forge great friendships,
garner respect for others and the natural environment,
gain self esteem and develop a deeper understanding
of themselves. The Camp’s unique location
on Canada’s Grand Manan Island affords campers
such awe-inspiring opportunities. As the Island
is in the mouth of the Bay of Fundy between Maine
and Novia Scotia, campers charter clear water
as well as the world’s highest tides and
one of the most bio-diverse marine environments
in existence. As campers set the sails and help
plot the maritime courses with their friends,
they also work as junior marine scientists examining
plankton under microscopes and testing water samples
for dissolved oxygen and salinity. When not navigating
the sea, campers gather around the campfire, kayak
with seals, play sports, do arts and crafts, tour
the seashore, examine life the the tidal pools,
hike coastal trails and more. There’s a
world of possibility at the Whale Camp—
some of the fun lurking leagues beneath the sea.
Let your child experience the thrill of the Bay
of Fundy this summer.
