FivePoints is a college-based residential academic program for rising 8th-12th graders, and as such, it takes advantage of myriad opportunities both on and off campus. Students choose one of 8 academic tracks on which to focus over a two-week session. The program integrates classroom projects, inventive activities, personal coaching, community building and field trips into a fun and powerful learning experience. In addition to classroom and on-campus activities, all students take at least two field trips during each session. On Saturday, everyone visits Lake George for a beautiful day of fun in the sun. On the following Wednesday, all students head to New York City to spend a day with their class on an academic exploration. FivePoints promotes a vibrant intellectual community in which members eagerly to share their passions. The small class size and dorm-living foster a community in which students respect each other and are supported in expanding their learning and vision. Just as classes introduce students to intellectual pursuits that could provide a lifetime of fulfillment, a broad array of activities will introduce them to hobbies that can become life-long passions. A staff of resident advisors ensures that students have well-planned and fun evening activities which offer teachers and students a chance to bond outside of the classroom. This bonding enhances students’ academic engagement as they get to know teachers better. All program staff live on the halls with students for supervision and to guide activities; our staff is always available to our students.
