This award-winning Off-Broadway theater company founded by David Mamet and William H. Macy offers incredible classes for aspiring young actors through its Acting School. For tweens and teens in grades 7-12, classes are as follows. Young Actors (grades 7-8) introduces the craft of acting to youngsters who want to “give it a try!” The class teaches the Practical Aesthetics acting technique created by Mamet and Macy, along with improvised games and structured movement exercises. Students explore the world of acting through storytelling and short scenes. Acting for Teens Level 1 (grades 9-12) offers an introduction to Practical Aesthetics. Students delve into scene study using the Atlantic script analysis process, and discover characters through improvisation and theater games. This class requires memorization and rehearsal. Students explore contemporary plays and begin studying the work of William Shakespeare.
