Now those smart alecks condemned to class clown status finally have their shot to shine in the limelight with a mic in hand. Kids ‘N Comedy (KNC) runs workshops, classes, shows and summer camp that instruct today’s youth how to transform their hilarious anticts into performance-style stand-up comedic skills. For beginners who want to learn the art of comedic showmanship in great detail, KNC has nine-week courses led by top comics and writers that culminate in a performance for kids ages 10-17. The advanced monthly workshops, meanwhile, invite kids ages 10-17 to come to the reputable Gotham Comedy Club with two-three minutes of original, stand-up material. The workshops grant kids one-on-one time with teachers from a professional comedic background, while giving attendees a taste of what it’s like to perform. Children receive a DVD of the workshop session, as well as the chance to be selected to appear in Kids ‘N Comedy shows. Also held at Gotham, the shows are composed of side-splittingly funny stand-up material for audience members ages 10 and up.
