The Poet’s Corner
Celebrating the changing seasons with poetry.
Winter Wonderland
Laying in the snow with my own secret will.
Thinking in the snow, but staying so still.
Staying warm so I won’t get ill.
As the sky turns gray,
I lay in dismay.
I can still say
that I look like a display.
In a museum, if I may.
Soon, the moon will come out and play.
Now this day is coming to an end.
Just like the others,
this day will mend
until the very end.As I recall, what has happened overall,
I can still call
this my very own, secret, quiet and enchanting
winter wonderland.

Winter Wonderland
White houses, snow covered streets,
This city doesn’t sleep.
Powder white snow falling,
“It’s too cold,” parents are calling.
Kids outside having snowball fights,
Christmas trees keep their bright shining lights.
Snowmen with the carrot noses,
Taking pictures while the kid poses.
A kid running in the snow— must be a sprinter,
Cold temperatures— it’s winter!
—Dennis Kan
Winter Wonderland
Winter wonderland,
Everything white.
All through the land,
Such a pretty sight.Snowmen among the snow,
They are all for show.
Wreaths hung from door to door,
Snow covers the entire floor.
Kids among the pearly white,
Having vigorous snow fights.
Snow angels are quickly made,
Snow makes everything fade.
Trees tinted with shiny frost,
So white that your mind can get lost.
Under the tree, family and friends reunite,
Snow reflecting the sun’s light.

Blizzard
Blistering snow blowing left to right.
Beautiful snow in the night sky.
Watching while it piles inches to feet,
Makes you want to turn on the heat.
Silence brings out the true beauty,
Makes you think about your little cutie.
Tomorrow, you make a snowman
When you’re done— oh man!
You jump into the piles of snow
And just play with the flow.
Time to shovel up the snow;
Hey, at least it’s not coal.
Go inside and get some hot cocoa.
Let’s go outside again. No! No!
Take off your wet clothes
While the snow still blows.

Winter Wonderland
Walking in a winter wonderland
You see children building snowmen
Throwing snowballs at each other
Laughing over and over.
Stretching arms and legs
Snow all over their face
Making snow angels
At a quick and lively pace.
Walking in a winter wonderland
You realize it’s at every street and place
It takes your breath away
As a smile crosses your face.
—Julie Lin
All Things Green
Everywhere I go, every time I turn,
Everything is green— every way and every how.
Everything is green and oh so beautiful,
Every shape and every way—
Every tree, bush, blade of grass and leaf
are all so green.
How beautiful are the green-colored shapes that surround!
—Jung Min
Winter Wonderland
The long-awaited days are finally here
The children waited an entire year.
Fires all aglow
While snowflakes softly blow.
Enjoy the winter wonderland
While you still can;
For winter does not last forever
And spring is just around the corner.
—Kaung Thu
All Things Green
Green
The color of nature
Green
Not the color of hatred
Green
The color that gives me life and power
Green
It reminds me of flowers
Green
The color of four-leaf clovers
Green
The color for St. Patrick’s Day lovers.
—Raymond Gallagher
